card deck problems

i have the novice life deck and none of my side cards or erned cards show up in it only the basic cards do why and why cant i use some of my cards early in a fight thay are gray but later in a fight thay are usable please help

When you get a new deck, you have to open the spell deck screen and add cards to it there.

Many cards cost pips, and if you don't have as many pips as the card costs, then you can't cast it.
