Can someone please tell me the point of gardening? I heard someone say that you can get pet xp from gardening, is that true?

Gardening gives you lots of things depending what you grow. You can get loads of mega-snacks for pets, rare treasure cards, reagents for crafting, treasure cards for selling... without really doing anything but checking them once a day.
