I got the quest from the Life teacher, and I got the skeleton key and everything but when I go to the Shirataki Temple, it isn't lit up for me to be able to go in. Do I need to finish other quests first or why won't it let me into the Temple?

you have to get access ti that place or have a friend let you port to him or her while he or she is in the temple its a main quest dungeon so you cant expect to be able to just walk in there

Same. I got the quest too, but I can't go in. But I know I need to finish up the quests, so yeah, you need to finish up quests.
