Well, the new gear is specific on your calculations of what you're going for, I personally want the new boots for fire as it gives me 3% more damage adding onto my 145% damage. The "downside" is that I lose 7% power pips chance but really, that doesn't matter to me in the strategies that I use (you can ask me for more details if you're curious).
Pip conversion is overrated. Don't be pulled in by the siren song of this virtually useless fad. stick with what works best gear-wise and forget about any pip conversions
